Can anyone share a tip on where to position the mounting pad under the fuel tank . I have the full kit from AN. I see the small pad goes to the front and large to the rear. It is an S type with a new paint job. Do not wont to have to take it on and off , to many times

original tanks original black rubber foam
On ROADSTER tank not frame.back bone tube..
small piece was contact cemented about 1-1/2" back from front edge.
Large piece was also contact cemented about 2" forward of rear edge
Was surprised to see the same foam part # for both steel and fiberglass

After a year or so the foam…
After a year or so the foam will settle, be prepared to add more. It may even need them now as the 2 front mount plates seem to have a mind of their own as too the level they were welded on at. On my 74 one side is 5mm lower than the other and I use extra rubber washers to make it level with the other side.

I use double sided tape with the front one stuck to the tank, and the larger rear one stuck to the frame.
