Fastback rear light

Forums

On a Fastback rear light unit, is there a "cowl tail lamp" (part no. 060644, as fitted to the Roadster) fitted between the rear light and the fibreglass seat cowl? The parts list is not clear and that cowl puts the number plate raked forward. Most Fastbacks seem to have the number plate vertical, leading me to suspect that it is not fitted.

David, as I did not have the correct number plate for my 68' Fastback, (the original havingtwo strengthening ribs and a small bracket that is used to fasten the number plate to the mudguard), I made anumberplatefroma flat sheet and positioned it where this cowl islocated after removing the cowl. As this flat plate does not have a bracket I simply have a hole through the plate with a bolt connection into the mudgard with a shaped spacerbetween allowing the plate to be vertical.

The original type number plate sits behind the fibreglass tail piece ie from the rear of the bike you have the lens, bulb holder, cowl, fibreglass then number plate. I've now obtained an original number plate and will probably put it back to the original factory raked position.

Hope this helps.
