Dominator chain tensioner

i have a 1951 norton dominator,with the chain tensioner there are two shield shaped plates with two holes, they are both different thickness"sdoes the thick one go on first under neath the adjuster plate or the thin one many thanks terry

Not 100% sure about this info but I have a feeling that the very early Model 7 Tensioner plates were a little different from the later versions. Will check my notes. The later type defintely have a thick and thin plate with off-set holes.

The thin one goes on first with the larger plain chunk at the bottom. The thick plate goes on last with the larger plain chunk at the top.

The attached photo does not really show the assembly process that well but is close.
