Correct barrel colour for November 1971 Fastback

I think that it would be silver, think they only went to black with the combat engine.

Check out the attachment. Most of the early batches of Commandos had Black barrels. Those exported to the USA with the two tone colour tanks certainly had. However, some of the bikes sent for display at shows had Silver barrels.

Late 1969 appears to have been the change over time when Silver arrived big time for most models. As said above, Black then reappeared with the Combat engines.

Definitely silver - my 1971 and 72 catalogues show silver barrels on Fastbacks, with black for Combat options available on the Roadster and Interstate.

Go back 5 pages on the Commando messages and you will find my quotation of the "official line" in Roy Bacon's book. Real early Commandos were black barrels.
