Hi , the rev counter was working fine and suddenly started jumping about , even on tick over it would be a six thousand revs ,very pragmatic not in snycro with the engine it would even drop down when excellerating. Have checked the cadle it seems ok even put 3in1 oil down it . The clock is a smith"s with a NVT Logo on it.

It may well be the cable drive socket on the instrument as they do wear if poorly engaged.
As a quick check, you can swap speedo and tacho heads over. It may help pin down where the fault lies.
