Commando 850 MK3 engine removal

Forums

Hi, looking for the safest way to remove my MK3 engine from the frame with the bike on centre stand and both wheels in. Can anyone advise me please. Kind regards, Ian

Hello Ian

If on your own, its best to remove the head and barrels.

If you have help available it is possible to remove the engine as a complete lump (and they are a lump, a heavy lump!)

Remember to place a stand under the frame as when you remove the engine bolts the whole frame will want to sit on the floor as the center stand is fastened to the engine plates.

If you haven't got one already, obtain a copy of the workshop manual. it outlines the procedure to follow.

Understood Peter, i will remove the head and barrels as i have some engine work to do anyway. But will put it back as a complete lump when completed with help.

Thanks very much for the advice, Cheers Ian
