Amal pilot jet cleaning

Forums

Just spent a couple hours stripping the carbs and with some carb cleaner and a guitar string ive got 800 rpm tickover and no spitting back or stalling on pickup and these pair have got 21000 miles on them!! MOT booked for Saturday.......so the morale of this tale is dont be to quick to bin the carbs you have in favour of a pair of premier Amals, as much as I like a new pair of them a couple hours tinkering just saved me spending the best part of £300 needlesly which means ive now got the best part of £300 to buy something else for it heh heh O happy days...

I use a #78 drill which is a 16 thou drill for the 25 pilot, glue it into a WD40 tube so it will reach the jet and no need to drill an access hole from the other side.

Sounds like you need a new set of guitar strings then, money well spent.
