I am thinking of fitting one of these to my Commando and haven't seen any recent correspondence regarding their reliability. Could anyone confirm how relaible they have found them now that they have been available for several years. Would they reccomend them.

The new starter from Colorado Norton Works is very tempting as it allows you to use your existing alternator and includes a new belt drive. It is more expensive at $2395 current exchange rate makes that £1750 then there's import duty. The engineering involved looks solid.

Yes the starter CNW seems more reliable because it has the same transmission as 850 MK3.

Les.. I would reccommend one as I fitted one to my commando.
I would suggest that attention is required as to choice of battery. My battery just squeezes in .
No probs were encountered with the sprag, as per Mk.lll.
Location of the solenoid was between the battery and the rear mudguard. I wired in a spare button on the handlebar switches for the starter.
Any probs let me know.
