850 Rear Wheel Rebuild

Forums

I have a 1974 Mk11A needing the rear wheel rebuilt. I had to remove the rusted rim and spokes and have purchased a new Jones steel rim WM2 19x40 from the club. The hub is the standard drum brake configuration.

My problem is I removed the spokes and hub without checking if there was an offset to the rim and if the spokes were different regarding inner and outer.

Having checked the manuals I have and some suppliers I am very confused as to what spokes and nipples to buy. I would prefer not to have stainless steel and am leaning towards galvanised, also can anyone recommend a wheel builder they have experience with.

Just going through the same now.

Took both wheels to the rebuilder on Friday. It seems the front with a disk is offset half an inch with stronger spokes on the disk side.

I can find out if there is an offset for the rear if nobody comes back to you.

Mine are due to be rebuilt when the rims turn up with polished spokes the wheel builder is getting the spokes and is in Uxbridge and just finished a Commando before mine.

Does your rim have a hole for the tyre security bolt?
