Hi Folks
well recently I purchased a Ebay bargain, a hardly used 14" norvil front disc, when I opened the parcel my joy turned to dust as I realized I had bought a disc with a 6 stud fixing and my commando is a 5 stud fitting , I looked back on Ebay and looked for images of 6 stud front wheels for the commando but there doesn't seem to be much info out there , can anyone shine some light on whet years and models might of been fitted with 6 stud wheels , I'm guessing late model 850's

Norvil sells them i believe and also the necessary front wheel hub. They also list replacement alloy centers as these become lose in time. You might wish to get the five hole center in order to use the disc rotor but if so check the width of the disc as older discs are wider than the newer version that the center fits. Contact them to check which disc you have may be best before placing an order.

Hi Martin
Not straight forward, as has been stated the 6 bolt hub is the Norvil racing hub. You also need an adaptor plate to hold the Lockheed/Grimeca racing caliper for the 14" disc.
The fork stay will have to be removed. The floating disc will wear quickly & some people find the rattle in use really annoying.
Good luckð

069745 is Norvil number for the 5 hole carrier for 14" disc it cost £70.45 plus VAT (if applicable) and postage. If you don't have the appropriate caliper adapter plate they can supply this to.
I have 13" disc 1/2" sleeved master cylinder and an AP Racing cp3697 (larger pistons than older Lockheed type for better hydraulic advantage) after fitting the disc and caliper in place of the rebuilt standard disc caliper and EBC pads (stainless lines and sleeved Mcylinder on both set ups) the improvement was massive and i now have full confidence in the stopping power which has been tested a few times by some of the less observant road users. I wouldn't ever go back to the standard set up. The lower mudguard stay is stainless so i reshaped the caliper side an it boltsto the adapter plate not the fork leg but you could simply cut the caliper side off an use only the LH side an two mudguard securing bolt part if you wish.
It is your bike and your choice but improving the braking does lead to a more relaxed and enjoyable experience in modern traffic.
