Hello
I am in the process of refurbishing my bike, and I was thinking of getting the wheel rims rechromed, as they appear in reasonable condition. The front rim is a Dunlop and the rear is a Jones. My question is are they both likely to be original? Or would it have been fitted with matching manufacturer rims ?
Many thanks
Tim

Original rims are Dunlop M…
Original rims are Dunlop MC275 front for disc brake and MB41 rear. Norton did not use Jones rims.

One of the Stafford branch guys had his Dommie wheels rechromed but the polishing process had left the rim so thin that it split about 4 inches round the rim. If he had been getting a wiggle on he might not have walked away. It's all very well staying original but good chrome plating is expensive and becoming difficult to find due to the regulations regarding chemical disposal. Alloy or stainless steel rims get my vote. Dunlop and Jones were used by Norton so will be original. It doesn't suprise me that they don't match but a 45 year old bike that has probably had a dozen owners............
