First off, thanks for all the useful feedback i have recieved, i enclose a pic of how i resolved the tank fixing. Although i know that the seat is held by two studs, coud anybody give me a little more detail, does the seat sit on rubbers like the tank, and when i try to fit the seat it seems to ride up an awful lot on the back of the tank, is this normal.

Looking at the first picture I think you have the tank strap upside down.

On my bike I have 2 strips of 1/4"thick x1/2" wide soft rubber strip fixed to the top of the frame under the seat to stop any rattles.Looking at your picture your strap should go straight down hugging the back of the tank and not stuck out. This will be what the seat will be riding up on
