1936 model 19

Forums

hi can anybody please advise me .....does this model have the engine number also stamped on the cylinder barrel as well as the crank case thank you richard

The important thing is that the crankcase is stamped with a factory stamped number.

Don't forget a factory replacement cylinder would not be stamped.

It seems to have been pre-war Norton practice to stamp the number on crankcase and cylinder flange. It was discontinued once the system of matching engine and frame numbers was introduced for wartime production in October 1939.

Replacement cylinders would not have been stamped and no-one can definitely say that none were missed-off during production.
