Clutch removal tool 1940 Norton 16h

Forums

Where can I get the clutch removal tool for the 16 h. I bought one from eBay but it is the wrong thread. I'm struggling to get the clutch to release

If clutch is very reluctant to part from shaft ,suspect failing spider register /shoulder which will get much worse with use and make gearchanging poor once clutch migrates towards the gearbox.

Item 10 is the spider (center) and the register is in the right hand end (not shown in this pic) . to see you would have to completly dismantle and study the detail . Even then its not easy to see the problem.

Thanks for the help with this so far. The spider register separates from the shaft ok. I am now going to replace the clutch plates (x9) and back plate inserts to see if that makes any difference.
the clutch thrust pin only has about 2.5 mm of movement. Is this normal?
thanks

If I ever measured it, I've long lost the numbers.  But 2.5mm should be more than enough to separate the plates.  Perhaps some are simply stuck together?  Now you seem to have released it, you should be able to clean them all and try again.  Plates can allegedly warp.

Cleaning didn't quite work so I'll try to buy 4 new friction plates and the sprocket inserts and see if that helps. Any recommendations as to where to get them please
