A technical forum for all matters electrical
In the course of much head scratching whilst trying to establish the cause of the fuse blowing problem, I have focussed my attention on the light switch and cannot reconcile the wiring of the switch as fitted with the wiring diagram.
Does this look like the correct switch for a 1962 650SS?
The terminals number up to 7 - the wiring diagram shows terminals numbering up to 11.
I now have reason to believe that there has been some bodging going on.
Thinking definitely new light switch - would 34289A be correct?
I have recently acquired a magneto ignition 1962 650SS (151BJW) which seems to have appeared in a couple of magazine articles in the past Real Classic issue 163 November 2017 and Classic Bike Guide January 2024.
I have now had a couple of short outings and have removed the seat and tank to investigate cable routings etc.
In doing so, I found that the (12V) battery was completely dry and effectively knackered with zero Volts.
a have a 6v cyclon battery that has been around for god knows how many years and has never needed charging ! , I am going to fit to a little old italian bike. I can access the top of the cell and wonder if after all these years a little distilled water may be beneficial to the gel ?acid which is bound to have dried out a bit.Anyone tried this ?.
I have a 1956 Dominator 99 and would like to know how and who can convert my electrical system to 12volt from 6 volt.
Hi apologies if this has been covered in this forum already. I recently bought a Dominator and it has to be kept on charge which is ok but even so it's still tricky to start. Does anyone have any recommendations on replacement batteries for them?
Thank you,
Gordon
I have fitted direction indicators to my Navigator. A set of "universal fitting" indicators, I fitted LED's rather than use the filament bulbs. A 3 pin flasher. The switch is a combined indicator, horn and high low handlebar mounted unit.
I fitted them, powered up and all was well.
The problem is that when I run the engine the flashing becomes very erratic. Clearly some interference from somewhere. I'm using Boyer electronic ignition.
Hi there,
I have a small problem with the above mentioned items, which I try to solve since the International in Sweden. While using the indicator to the right direction all works fine, but if I`m using the footbrake pedal in this situation the indicator blinking turns into permanent light.
I am a Commando owner since one week now and need to get it past the road test. Just discovered the horn is not working...
I am unsure which button should activate it: the indicator switch is on the right (European model) and the buttons above and below do nothing visual or audible. The headlight flasher is top left and the other switches on the left seem to do nothing.
