Jubilee fork seals

Forums

Taken the old fork seals off, they appear to be screwed (they are threaded) onto the top of the fork legs. The new seals I have are just a push fit onto the legs, no thread on the inside of seal, will they stay in place. Do I have the right seals.

Thanks

John.

Sorry, can’t give a definitive but I assumed the threads were there to act as a “grip” for the seal.  None of my fork legs had seals on them and my new seals are same as yours!

On my '64 model the old fork seals were not screwed in just ribbed. I seem to remember that it was quite a job to get the new ones back in even using some silicone grease. With only a small amount of oil in the forks I don't think the 'seals' will be troubled over much with leakage. And the damping is almost non-existent!

Realised this morning after cleaning the forks that the fork ends are ribbed. The old seals are also ribbed, the new ones are not. I will just push the new ones onto the fork ends.

Thanks

John.
