Air filter for Slimline singles

It has been awhile since I posted the question, but here goes again
Does anyone have a factory supplied air filter for a Slimline Single?
The parts list that I have (Spares List for 1961/62 Models ES2, 50, 88,99,
650 Std & DeLuxe) states the following on page 66:
part no. 18684 Air cleaner (state colour req'd) All singles
I would have thought that this would have been a popular fitment for all bikes going to places like Egypt, Iran, and/or Australia
It is not that dusty here in Northern California but I would like to fit one
Any information would be appreciated

Hi Neill
i haven't checked the parts book presumably but they would be similar on a wideline?
Will be interested to see what you have.
cheers
Iain.

Mike, I have one buried in my shed, never had time to find it last year but when I do I'll see if I can get some made up in stainless.
The thread is imperial and will also fit the Amal Mk 1 626.
Just not had time to get out there.
Hi Iain,
Hope all is well down under.
I was thinking of starting a thread: 'Wheel building by candle light.'
Anyway, back to the topic: I bought this filter from Martin Bratby, several years ago. He told me he had an Amal proto type air filter for singles somewhere, eventually he found it and I managed to persuade him to part with it.
I had it in my hand about 3 years ago while doing some shed organising so I know it is in there.
It is basically a pancake filter but the pancake is very slim. You would need to make up your own filter material. I have promised this before but a priority to find next spring. I don't mind being reminded next April.
When found I will photograph it on a Model 50 and as a stand alone. If there is any interest I will see about having some made up in Stainless.
The slim gap between oil tank and inlet is about the same for both F/bed frames and this will fit on the slimline. Therefore...
With the current supply situation re Dommy barrels filtration has become important. I made that decision 20 years ago with the 99 and now have exellent compression and no wear . Absolute performance is now secondary to reliability and keeping the bike on the road for my last few years in the saddle.
Has anyone ,have a pair of tank badges for 1961 Domi 99ss for sale please send details and price to
batt.boyten@gmail.com the long type I think as not sure they must have three screw holes.

I too asked this question a while back now. I have tried various types of filter with a view to modify ing, but with no luck yet. This is one of those things that the club should invest in if an original can be found.
I have a slimline and a wideline ES2 and know at least 3 other people that have expressed an interest in fitting an air filter.

The Norville filter box can work, especially now we know of a filter that will fit in it. It is a bulky faff to fit and expensive if you buy the carb adaptor and rubber connector (which is not a good fit on the carb ring). Its done the job, but if it were possible to fit a rubber hose and a pod filter thats what I would do, but very narrow space.
