On the drive side crankcase there is a small hole behind the main bearings, at 6 o'clock, which doesn't appear to be threaded (see pics). Is this a drain hole? There is also a groove in the crankcase above the hole with a small channel. Unfortunately the inner part of the channel has cracked off, will this be detrimental to the lubrication of the mains bearings. Thanks.
The Purpose of the Orifice.

It's a timed breather...The slot lines up with a crank drilling.
I assume that the breather won't truly work if the inside face is missing.
