I have a 1949 es2 plunger, i have purchased a t shape battery box but it fouls the chain guard, do i have the wrong battery box or is the fixing wrong also i now have the correct horn but cant find the correct bolt to attach it, any advice would be a great help.
many thanks graham
Looks to me as if your chainguard is sitting too high, the top run of the chain would not normally be visible. My 1950 ES2 has a rectangular battery box rather than T shape.
looks like i have the wrong chain guard and wrong battery box and fixing !
Is it an international style chain guard? The front fixing just needs lowering a little. That should help. The rear fixing is usually over slung to lower the guard over the top chain run.
Makes sense now
As said, chain-guard is much too high, but the battery bracket is the correct one. I think the original fixing was to have a rubber spacer between the bracket holes and casing. You could just use a piece of rubber petrol pipe etc. to get the right height, but don't forget the lock-nuts.
