Austria 2018 who's riding from the UK

The plan is to ride down to Austria, I can get some kit and spares on transport, but not the bike. I know a lot are using trailers or vans, but is anyone riding, as I don't fancy a solo trip. Plan would be to leave Dover on Monday morning.

Either way I have to be at the track that weekend, whether on bike, car, plane, not being there is not an option.

Also, another tip, the vignette can be purchased online for UK cars and motorcycles so no mad stop at the border or sticker in the window, though they will hold your vehicle with a stop batten when leaving until your reg comes up their system, takes seconds, and then they wave you through. This I found a few weeks ago when leaving Austria after a holiday trip.

Hi Ashley

Four of us are leaving Sunday and taking the pretty route. Aim to be there Wednesday. All on singles.

Thanks Paul,

I'll be leaving later as I am short of annual holiday. Planning to leave the UK Tuesday night, campanile overnight, and a two day ride down. I thought more would be riding, thankfully my brother is now riding with me on his new Z1000.

Well I am not riding from the UK, but plan to ride to the rally from Bremen. So far the plan is to put the bike in a van and drive down to my uncle, who lives in the vicinity of Ulm. If the weather forcasts are good and I have enough time, the whole trip from northern Germany might be on the bike.

I will leave the van at my uncle's place and drive on the bike through the AllgÃ?u and the Alps to the rally side. Presumably via Kempten, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Kufstein, etc... Around 600km on two or three days. I plan to arrive at Wednesday.

No motorways! Well, if it would raining heavily, maybe some motorways....

If the foercasts are good I will use the "green poser bike" aka Commando, if they are not so good I will take the "bike which can do anything better" aka 99.

If someone plan to go on a similar route, let me know. See you on the way or at the rally.

I will be riding the Commando this year. Setting off a week earlier so I can do the Black Shadow Rally in Alstatten on the Bodensee. It is then just a quick Ã?sh" ride over the Stelvio Pass and Grossglockner Pass to the rally. Leaving from Plymouth to Roscoff and taking in the D500 Black Forrest route and doing scientific research on the gateaux on the way. Someone has to do it!Tongue out
