1969 Norton Mercury 650cc Southam

This example was built in 1969 and sold initially to the Island of Grenada where it served for its first few years with the island’s Police force. It returned in 1974 when it was purchased by a west country-based Aircraft engineer who kept the bike (as standard) for no less than 50 years. During this period the bike was fitted with a Boyer Bransden Electronic Ignition and a Twin Leading Shoe front brake. The present owner has also made a few small alterations, notably the installation of Lusas style indicators and a matching Tachometer. These may however be easily removed if the new owner requires greater originality.
The engine starts reliably and makes a typical Norton twin ‘rumble’ It’s located in the South of Warwickshire and viewing enquiries are welcome
