Roadholder 370 - October 2018

19 Austria and then Begonia What a lovely Austrian rally. Our carers, Richard and Christa got us there in one piece, despite Mike not being able to see very well, due to his cataracts, and a bike we've only had for two months. In all my rally years, I have never had such wonderful food. Now we are old biddies, the Saturday night music was a bit much for us, but Roland ran a super rally. It was great to see Aundras, but I could not believe it was 21 years since our epic ride. We thought our Chairman, Tim, did a great interview with Peter Williams. We arrived at the Begonia rally a little tired, as usual, Mark and Mika and our Belgian friends looked after us old biddies. The band was great. Richard's tools and all the guys put our back brake pedal in the right position. There will be some changes made, the tyres for one, rubbish in the wet, and also a change of luggage. The bike did very well on petrol, enough speed to hold its own on the motorways. Mike was happy with his certificate - he rides a Norton to rallies for 40 years, then on a Triumph and the old boy gets a certificate!. But nothing has the soul of a Norton. There is still the same lovely feeling at Begonia, thanks to Mark, Mika and everyone who helped put it together. Finally we wish Jim Dracup all the very best on his recovery. Christine and Mike Ruth An Editors Appeal Please can I ask that when hand-written items for inclusion in Roadholder are submitted, that they are clearly written, particularly with regard to names (both people and places). I’m aware that if I get these wrong, it can cause annoyance and also spoil the overall content of the item. This also applies to classified adverts where some information must be correct e.g. phone numbers, email addresses etc.. Often, what is obvious to you may not be to me. Please also be aware that the copy dates specified on page 3 of each edition is the cut-off date for items submitted for publication (although I can, occasionally sqeeze in the odd late classified advert - I cannot promise though).
