16 In 1961, when I was 21, I needed a bike in order to carry on the geological survey which would lead me to get a BS in Geology at Florence University. Although my father had in mind a Vespa, I acquired the Lightweight Navigator 350 cc Twin (below). In autumn later that same year, the bike carried me, through Simplon Pass, to Paris and Zurich. Near Sainte Ménehould, an historic village in eastern France, I followed, as an apprentice, a geophysical survey to prospect for oil. Spare parts were bought through my cousin in London.
