Deletion of classified ads

Please could you explain how we delete our ads once the item is sold ??

Thanks.

Hi Hans

It's really strange - You should be able to delete your Classified and it looks to me as if you can do this on one of your adverts but for some mystical reason not the other one!???

I have escalated this into a 'Bug' status and the  worldwide brains of Plone will undoubtedly soon be bringing their massive combined intellect to resolve the problem....? In the meantime would you like us to delete it for you? The Magneto that is - not the Wasp frame...

It was deleted - no problem. Incidentally the reason you weren't able to delete it originally, is because when CMG added the "For Sale" image he inadvertently 'locked' the item and made it unavailable for further editing by anyone other than himself... Good luck with the Wasp frame!

Hi Hans

I think you'd better reinsert it? I'm afraid that I'm still at a loss as to where it went!

I had advertised some heavyweight twin spares in the ' for sale' section of the Classifieds but today I can find no sight of them.  I did not specify a delete date.  Why has my advert been deleted and can you tell me how does the classified advert get in the monthly glossy mag ?

Regards, Howard

Hi Howard

I believe the Club's Web & Data Manager routinely sets an automatic expiry date for all Classified Ads after a couple of months? One can easily re-post the Classified of course? Equally, you may advertise in Roadholder Magazine by writing to the Editor. I note a link you can use here.

 Best regards, Peter

Thanks for that Peter. I successfully used the link, you sent,  to contact the RH mag editor to insert an advert in the glossy but the link to the website adverts repeatedly fails.  On the 'fail page'  there is a 'contact us'  link that asks for details of the fail mechanism.  I duly filled in the required boxes only for it to tell me that I haven't completed the form correctly. There is sometrhing wrong here - let's hope these little niuances can be corrected.  Please remind me  how to include a classified advert on the website.

Kind regards, Howard

18 months down the line and there still appears to be a problem with deleting old ads.

I posted 3 in June and then needed to delete all of them by early August.

The first disappeared easily by entering the 'Actions' menu and selecting delete.

However, this option disappeared for the other ads I wanted to remove.

The answer was to enter 'Dates' and then set an asap 'expiration' date; in my case the next midnight.

Problem solved but in a round about way.
