Message order in general redux:
Up to Website Suggestions
Oops even posting is confusing as I never hit the
ost Comment" button at the bottom of the page and only hit the "return" button on my keyboard and the blank message was sent.
Anyway... Chris: has there been any progress in fixing the message order problem? Per your last posting on this as below even you cannot figure it out:
"When it says 'Reply to this', it does what it says on the tin and replies to the specific post, even if it is one from quite a while ago. That bit works fine. What does not seem to work is simply adding a posting at the end. I have just tried several test postings and they do indeed seem to go in at a random position which can change depending on exactly where you were just previously.
I'm the Webmaster and I ought to be telling all of you how it works - and I can't. I will go away and consult the higher web gurus on this but following various comments we have been on the lookout for a more intuitive message board system for a while.
Ref. Joe's query about the days of the week, I asked the identical question many months ago. For a period of up to a week, the software identifies the posting date as the day. Once it has been there for over a week, it reverts to a date. It's trying to be clever.
There are no postings from James Lansdowne by the way, as his NOC subscription has run out."
When will we ever get a normal, intuitive system?

Mike,
I think we are resolved now to look at a system that works in real time order. The downside will be that it will not be under the password envelope of the main web site and we will have to log in a second time in order to post messages.
Possibly a reasonable price to pay as like everyone else, this system is flawed. I can't get it to post in a sensible time order and nor can anyone else. It is perhaps too clever for its own good.
We will update you all when we have chosen a message board system that works.
Hi All
It's fixed!
Having worked solidly on the message order problem over the weekend we think we have finally got somewhere. It has mainly involved creating a new Plone CMS site then importing and exporting all kinds of objects to and from it.
In order to get this to work we have had to make all the conversations show in ‘conversation_view’ rather than ‘threaded_conversation_view’. This means replies are not indented on the left, however they are displayed in chronological order.

AT LAST..........It is so much easier to read the comment threads. Thank you for sorting this part out of what is a very good club website.
Regards, Paul.
I composed a message congratulating Peter et al with the new layout, pressed 'Post Comment' and it disappeared !
Let's see what happens this time.

Success!
The new layout, in chronological order, makes the Forum so much easier to read and understand.
