Slow Action

Posted by roger_johnson at April 18. 2017

Hi I feel the twist grip action is too fast when accelerating out of slow corners or roundabouts, it can send you all over the country. Does anyone know of a slow action twist grip [90 degrees or or more I guess] that fits or am I just being a wimp - my days of gouging a line in the tarmac at every corner with my stand are over? Ah where did those day go.

Thanks Roger

Many on the market, Tomaselli, Magura, Robby Moto, Venhill etc etc.... However, they are marketed as quick action twist grips! Most riders want to go the other way...... They tend to come with maybe 4 different drums, so you can select the rate of opening by installing the appropriate drum inside the twist grip. If you explore the different makes you should find out which one(s), if any, are appropriate for your needs. By the sound of it yours is a fairly quick action, so it may be some have options which will slow it.

Or you could ask Norton?

Hi Ian, I have asked Norton and unsurprisingly they say no alternative. The 961 twist grip is fully open at 90 degrees. Anyway thanks for your reply I will certain;ly investigate.

Thanks Roger

Isn't it operating a sensor rather than actually lifting a throttle ?

Re-mapping sounds like the way to go...the cure for all ills on modernish vehicles.

If Norton are planning to use the 16H name again then they probably have the software already !
