S-type Handlebars

Posted by ian_sutherland at December 09. 2011

Hello members,

I am currently working on a 69 s-type, all very orginal. I brought it from the one brother who brought it new in New york state to share with his older brother. He told me, they got fed up up with the high rise exhaust, and changed it over themselves. A mess, and it's not hard, but otherwise all stock, 8500miles on the clock.

So this brings me to my question, the handlebars on it are stock european low rise originals. The cables are all there, and again all originals, wire ties routing and lengh's are all correct. I have seen pictures of bikes like this, for  home market use. There's two or three in the Bacon Norton twins books.  I really like the bike just the way it is, but I was doing a correct resto. If you know of these, and the one of the pic's looks like it's been taken at a show. The parts manuals I have are unclear. Please help me justify keeping this bike with low bars, very cool.

Regards Ian
