frame identification

Posted by robert_brown at August 11. 2010

I got a frame and forks in a job-lot. the only number I can find on the frame, at the headstock, on the downtube part r/h side is 9955. It has forks which look like jubilee but the frame has a single top bar  and is open at the bottom and has a sprung swing arm. Of no help it is painted red-lead red. (just thought i'd throw that in) so wot's it from?

Hi Robert, dont think its a Jubilee as they have a double top bar also the frame number is usually near the swinging arm pivot.

Are you sure the frame is Norton?  The Jubilee forks were an AMC product and were used on a number of AMC bikes, such as Fanny Barnett and James as well as the Norton.  I'm not sure if they were also used on the Ajay 250cc Model 14 and its Matchbox badged brother.
