Help!Does anyone know the correct procedure for fitting the forks to the frame?I am really struggling and do not seem to have enough hands!Thank you,Mick
Hi Mick, it is a bit tricky. Have you put plenty of grease on the bearing etc to try and hold everything in place while you fit the spindle? I remember having trouble myself with the spacer at the top alway being out of line. Stick with it!

Use very heavy grease to retain the ballbearings in situ, and employ the use of a mate to insert the spacer at the top, as he passes the spindle up from below - whilst you hold it all in place.
Its tough to do on the Jubilee, as the forks are basically a complete unit and therefore weigh that much more.
Its easier on the Navigator, as you can dismantle the forks & just offer up the bottom yoke & spindle as one.

Thanks for the advice.I think I might have cracked it.As the bike is in bits,I held the forks in a vice and offered up the downtube/steering head and it went in a treat leaving a hand free to insert the spindle.Seeeemple! Hope this is of use to someone.Mick Trown.

Hi Andy/guys, New to the forum so I hope I'm contacting you correctly?
I am halfway through a 1961 Navigator rebuild but despite my best efforts am unable to find a couple of key bits of information and you seem to know a bit about these twins.
The steering lock section that fits to the frame by the tank was missing from my bike so I need to aquire or fabricate one, can you tell me where I can find a picture of one or diagram as I have no what it looks like.
I could also do with a picture or diagram for the chain guard as again the manual and cd rom do not have any clear details.
Any steer in the right direction would be appreciated.

Hi John, when you say the steering lock do you mean the steering stops? If so, its simply a bit of u shaped 1/2" strip of steel welded on to the frame either side that the 2 round lugs on the bottom yoke hit against. Sorry can help with the chain guard.
Perhaps you need this from the NOC Lightweight spres list? "23378 Locking plate Nav Steering stop lock" for £13.60? I might need one for my 1961 Navi too - sadly the photo isn't really clear enough. Mine just needs some TLC and fettling but I'd be interested in how you are going and what you've done.

Lionel, you have me thinking now. Maybe there is a proper part for this and mine just has a replacement piece of 1/2" steel welded on in its place.
