Hi Chris, that tapped hole is where the pressure release valve goes. Comprising of a steel ball, small conical spring and the plug. The ball is a simple ball bearing, the conical spring is available in the  Club NOC shop, #A2/16, and the plug could be made if you have access to a lathe and another plug to which copy.

Do a Google search to see what comes up.

Off topic now, but since Russell Motors has been mentioned, about 4 weeks ago I  ordered a part from their web site, but have had no reply. Is this their norm for online customers, anyone know about them or have had prior dealings.

i have heard phone or fax is best for the old stuff from Russells, i have had good service via fax.

If what i have read elsewhere is correct the one remaining brother who looks over the older stuff is well past retirement age and not at all interested in emails etc.

HI Paul,

I have had excellent service by giving them a quick call and providing a credit card to bill for the parts .

Paul: did you charge the cost on your credit card and has Russell Motors sent the bill thru to the credit carc company?

I bought the screw and spring from them recently but I sent cash (it was less than a £10) because they didn't want to use the card for such a small amount.

Hi Michael, it never got past me asking for an all up price including postage.  No reply at all, though the item was worth a quite a few quid. Since found a source close to home.
