Engine rebuild Questions 1949 ES2

Posted by john_ferguson at October 02. 2017

I am in the process of rebuilding my 1949 ES2. The crankshaft is rebuilt and trued, I have .020 end play. I understand i should be in the .006-.008 range. Where can i find shims to do this work ?  I also have lots of slop in the valve lifters. Wear on the lifters and lifter guide bores, any suggestions.

John Ferguson Red Deer Alberta Canada.

Hey,

Most machine shops could spin some up for you.  Or you can order some after doing all the math.  Your number divided by 2 to give you shim thickness per side.  I believe RGM and Norvil sells shims but for us Canadian folks you should start with Walridge in Ontario.  They have a website.

Cheers from Halifax,

Bryon

Hey,

I'd be keen on seeing some pix of your '49.  I'll fumbling through a '48 build myself.
